NEW DELHI: The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) announced on Wednesday, December 29, that over 49 civic services will be provided online. The NDMC has established a ‘single-sign-on’ (SSO) service that allows the public to access all services in one place without having to register several times.
In face of the COVID-19 threat, the initiative’s main goals are digitisation and a reduction in the physical connection among people. Previously, people had to register several times in order to use the civic body’s internet services. Now, they only need to register once, and they can use the same login ID to access all 49 civic services.
“During the lockdown, the NDMC worked hard to improve the quality of online services available to citizens and employees, removing the need for them to physically visit the NDMC offices,” a NDMC official stated.
The 49 online services include birth and death certificate registration, payment of water and electricity bills, school registration, and pension-related questions. “SSO is a user experience and security management system for citizens/employees/pensioners and others (as and when required) accessing applications over the internet and intranet. NDMC will introduce 20 additional services and connect them with the NDMC app 311,” the official added.
