NEW DELHI: The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has decided to continue enhanced parking fees until April 30, 2024, or the withdrawal of Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) stage 2 initiated as part of the efforts to tackle air pollution in Delhi. The parking fee was doubled a few months back in November 2023 and it applies to the parking lot operated by both MCD as well private players.
Civic body informed that the enhanced fees will continue till April 30 or the Withdrawal of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) stage 2, whichever is earlier. The restrictions were introduced under GRAP stage 2 to tackle air pollution in the national capital on October 21, 2023.
Under the normal parking fee, four-wheelers are charged ₹20 per hour (with a maximum of ₹100 per day) for surface-level parking at NDMC’s parking lot. Similarly, two-wheelers have to pay ₹10 per hour. While for the multilevel parking sites, ₹10 per hour is charged for cars and ₹5 for two-wheelers. However, the council doubled these rates at the parking sites under its operational jurisdiction on November 13, 2023. Enhanced charges were extended to the private parking lots on November 28, 2023.
Although the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) hasn’t enforced the parking fee hike, experts are also calling for a more comprehensive and uniform policy on parking fees in the national capital.
