NEW DELHI: To promote eco-friendly transport, the New Delhi Municipal Council approved the installation of more electric vehicle charging stations in Lutyens’ Delhi.
The decision was taken during the meeting of the council. The official statement said that the new charging stations built under the National Electric Mobility Programme, for which a memorandum of understanding (MoU) will be signed with the Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), including Rajasthan Electronics and Instruments Limited (REIL) – a “Mini Ratna” central public sector enterprise, KELTRON – a Kerala government undertaking and HLL Infra Tech Services Ltd.
Revamping of the sub-transmission and distribution network was also approved in the council meeting. This project will improve the reliability and quality of the power supply to consumers, thereby ensuring a financially and operationally efficient distribution sector. Also, this will cut down technical and commercial losses to 12 per cent from the existing 15 per cent. Improved power sector infra will increase the reliability of power supply, reduce incidents of power outage and time, along with monitoring of load and demand.
NDMC, in its statement, said, “The Project for revamping of Sub-Transmission & Distribution Network including feeders, distribution transformers and boundary metering under reforms-based and result linked, revamped distribution sector scheme (RDSS) for the NDMC area was approved by the council.”
The decision to revive 27 posts of the executive engineer in the Department of Civil Engineering for its smooth functioning was also taken up during the council meeting.
Council also resolved the proposal of recruitment rules for the nursery assistant teacher’s post. However, the education department has been directed to take necessary approvals from the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India and notify the same in the gazette to take action to fill the posts.
