KOHIMA, Nagaland: The municipalities and town councils in Nagaland have joined hands to establish a common welfare body called the Nagaland Urban Council Federation (NUCF) ahead of the urban local bodies (ULBs) elections. Kohima will serve as its headquarters.
The decision to form NUCF was taken during a consultative meeting of municipal officials from three key municipalities, including AKMWP (Association of Kohima Municipal Wards Panchayats), AWUMT (All Ward Union Mokokchung Town), and DUCCF (Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation) along with representatives from the 26 councils in the state.
Thejao Sekhose (currently President of AKMWP) will be the President of NUCF; Limanungsang (currently President of AWUMT) will be the Vice President; and Zasivikho Zakiesato (currently President of DUCCF) will be the General Secretary.
The new office bearers will complete the task of formulating the by-laws of NUCF promptly and will be presented before the officials for approval in the next meeting. The meeting approved the election of new office bearers for municipalities, town councils, and executive members for each district within the new federation.
