COIMBATORE: S P Velumani, Minister of Municipal Administration, on August 24, flagged off the first batch of wet waste collection vehicles that will be used by the Coimbatore Corporation. The 102 waste collection vehicles were bought at a cost of Rs 5.71 crore.
The newly flagged off vehicles will only be used for collecting wet waste in the city which is to be used for compost preparation.
The official press release by the corporation said that the waste collection vehicles were flagged off during a function held at Selvapuram.
The release also said that the corporation will start working on laying main drinking water pipeline on the Siruvani Road, between Telugupalayam and Selvapuram, at a cost of Rs 1.69 crore.
