MUMBAI: Addressing a press conference in Mumbai on July 14, after the state cabinet meeting, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis said that the Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has given all the clearances for the project of Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train. The development comes barely a fortnight after the change in government in the state.

PTI reported that over the past few days, the new Government of Maharashtra cleared long pending issues related to the project which included forest clearances and land acquisition, amongst others. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has issued directives to shift a petrol pump of BPCL located on a plot at Bandra-Kurla Complex earmarked for the terminus of the bullet train. The terminus there will be constructed as three-storey underground structure and will have six platforms on the lowest level.

According to PTI, around 1.2 hectares of land in Palghar, Maharashtra, was handed over to the project last week. With this, 90.56% of the required land has been acquired by now for the project, wherein 98.8% in Gujarat, 100% in Dadra Nagar Haveli, and 72.25% in Maharashtra has been acquired.

Furthermore, in a review meeting held on July 12, the state government had committed that issues involving the transfer of land for the BKC underground station and that for the tunnel shaft at Vikroli, will be resolved by September.
