MUMBAI: The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) continues to make greater strides in the public transport industry. After they decided to train 10,000 women drivers to induct them in MSRTC, they have now launched India’s first intercity electric bus-Tilted Shivaee. The service was inaugurated by Uddhav Thackeray, Chief, Shiv Sena who said that it was a matter of great pride for the state.

They will be run on lithium-ion batteries and will be 43-seater buses. The initiative has set new benchmarks for state transport corporations across the country.
MSRTC is ready to procure 150 such buses to ply them on intercity routes across Maharashtra. Some of the buses will also ply on the Mumbai-Pune and Mumbai-Nashik routes.
