NEW DELHI: Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs launched the Swachh Survekshan 2020 on June 6. The survey targets a sustainable on-ground performance of cities along with monitoring of service level performance in cleanliness. The league would be conducted in 3 quarters April – June, July – September and October – December 2019. A total of weightage of 2000 marks would be distributed evenly in these time frames. The cities would be evaluated on the basis of monthly revision of SBM-U online MIS (Management Information Services) by cities along with citizen validation of the 12 service level progress indicators through outbound calls. Cities would be ranked in two categories:
(i) Cities with population of one lakh and above
(ii) Cities with less than 1 lakh population
Every ULB which was established by December 31, 2018, is included in the survey.
The standing in the league would directly correlate to the result of the Swacch Survekshan 2020 as it holds a 25 per cent weightage in the quarterly assessment of the survey standing.
The launch was attended by Durga Shanker Mishra, Secretary, MoHUA and the Principal Secretaries, State Mission Directors and Municipal Commissioners of 106 cities with population of 5 lakhs and above.
