NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India, launched an event titled ‘Convergence between PM Formalisation of Micro-food processing Enterprises (PMFME) and Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM) programmes’. Durga Shankar Mishra, Secretary, MoHUA, launched the event along with Pushpa Subrahmanyam, Secretary, Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI).
Mishra said that helping the Self Help Groups (SHGs), who are indulged in micro-entrepreneurship activities, will ensure their financial independence and help the families of SHGs live a dignified life. He also added that this initiative will open new dimensions in the lives of urban SHGs involved in food processing.
Both the schemes have been converged in order to assist the members of SHGs and the guidelines of same have been issued to the states and union territories. Sanjay Kumar, Joint Secretary, MoHUA, said that virtual trainings are being held for the state and city level officials by both the ministries (MoFPI and MoHUA) in order to ensure clarity during implementation.
