NEW DELHI: A virtual event was organised by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India, on June 24, to commemorate the seventh anniversary of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) – Urban which was launched by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on June 25, 2015.
In the virtual ceremony, an e-book highlighting the achievement of the mission was launched by Manoj Joshi, Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India. Also, the names of the winners of Khushiyon ka Aashiyana Short Film were announced on the occasion. The competition was organised by the MoHUA under the celebration of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav – 75 years of India’s independence. The theme of the contest was ‘Transforming Human Lives in Urban Landscape’. A total of 34 candidates have been shortlisted under three categories. Winners of the contest will receive be given a cash prize along with a certificate of recognition.
Additionally, PMAY-U field inspection module was also launched.
Under the PMAY-U till now, 122.69 lakh houses has been sanctioned out of which 100 lakh houses have been grounded and 61 lakh have been completed and delivered. The Centre has made an investment of Rs 8.31 lakh crores to fulfil ‘Housing for all’ vision of the Prime Minister of India.
