NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India, organised a “Hariyali Mahotsav”, on July 8, 2022, at Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi. The event was organised as part of the celebration of “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”.
Hariyali Mahotsav or “Tree Festival” is aimed at creating awareness regarding the importance of planting trees and conservation of forests in climate change mitigation efforts.
The MoEFCC joined hands with the state governments, police stations and schools of Delhi to undertake a plantation drive on this occasion. 75 Nagar Vans of the country, 75 schools of Delhi NCR, 75 Police Station and 75 degraded plantation sites in different states participated in the ceremonial plantation drive that was organised on this occasion.
The event also included a concert by Ricky Kej.
During the event, Bhupender Yadav, Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India, Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Housing & Urban Affairs, Government of India, Ashwini Kumar Choubey, Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Vinai Kumar Saxena, Lieutenant Governor, GNCTD attended the event.
