AIZAWL, Mizoram: Tawnluia, Deputy Chief Minister of Mizoram, announced that the Government of Mizoram will provide assistance of Rs 50,000 to the 60,000 identified beneficiaries under Phase I of the Socio-Economic Development Policy (SEDP) of Mizoram.
Under this flagship scheme, the state government has identified 1500 families from each assembly constituency in the state. They will be provided Rs 50,000 under Phase I as assistance to set up their own businesses. State government has plans to increase this assistance to Rs 3 lakh to improve the economic standing of its people.
According to the Deputy CM, the state has been running the scheme since 2018, under which they have constructed roads and hired teachers.
The SEDP scheme aims to eliminate poverty and economically uplift the marginalised people by providing employment opportunities, reducing the infant mortality rate and creating basic infrastructure in the state. The scheme comprises of 2 components, first is Economic Development Policy & Programme and the second one is Social Development Policy and Programme.
