LONDON: Amid the coronavirus pandemic gripping the world with fear, Bhasha Mukherjee, Miss England 2019 has decided to set her crown aside and return to the United Kingdom to resume her duties as a doctor. She is a British citizen of Indian origin. She spent her childhood in Kolkota and left for Britain at the age of nine when her family decided to move there.
Bhasha participated in the Miss England 2019 pageant. Post winning the pageant, she resumed work as a junior doctor before taking a career break to participate in the Miss World pageant in December 2019. Bhasha has been travelling as an ambassador for various charities and humanitarian work.
Mukherjee had come to India in the beginning of March when the situation in England started to worsen due to the spread of Covid-19. After seeing how her colleagues were fighting the disease and helping those affected, she quickly decided to put down her crown and resume work as a medical practitioner. In an interview she said that she decided to come back to Britain because her country needs her at this hour of crisis.
