MUMBAI: The All India Institute of Local Self Government (AIILSG), which organised the competitive rankings in collaboration with the Maharashtra Mayor’s Council, presented the list of prize recipients.
The Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) can be proud of what it has accomplished. For its competence in implementing numerous social welfare programmes under its Women and Child Welfare Department, the local body has clinched the second rank in the state. Aside from donating sewing machines and grinders, and providing training in various disciplines such as driving and beauty parlour, and the courses targeted at empowering underprivileged women, the child welfare committee also honours deserving students who excel in various exams.
Members of the committee and city authorities visit Balwadis and civic maternity units at healthcare facilities on a regular basis to assess the situation. The MBMC was ranked second among the state’s D-class corporations, whereas the Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation and the Kolhapur Municipal Corporation were ranked first and third, respectively.
