NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) on Saturday, February 13, launched the Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship (MGNF) programme in association with nine Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) across India.
Mahendra Nath Pandey, Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, chaired the event on ‘Transforming skilling through strategic partnership under Skills Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness (SANKALP) for Livelihood’, an outcome-oriented programme of MSDE, and rolled out the MGNF and other initiatives. SANKALP is a World Bank loan assisted programme to strengthen the district skill administration committees.
According to MSDE, the two-year academic programme comes with an in-built component of on-ground experience with the district administration. It added that the fellows under MGNF will acquire academic expertise and technical competency in understanding the overall skill ecosystem.It will also help them manage skill development planning at the district level through the mechanism of devising the district skill development plans.
