MHC asks state government on steps taken to address water crisis

CHENNAI: The Madras High Court (MHC) asked the state government of Tamil Nadu regarding the steps taken to fulfil daily water requirements for the citizens of Chennai.

A bench of justice S Manikumar and Subromonium Prasad directed the additional government pleader E Manoharan to assure the correctness of the details submitted when a case was filed against commercial exploitation of groundwater from suburban areas of the city has been listed for hearing.

The bench asked the state government to submit details of other sources from which the government was drawing water and supplying to the city.
