SHILLONG, Meghalaya: The Khasi Hill Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has decided to request financial assistance for areas that can avail grants applicable to the local civic bodies from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India.

Pynshngain N Syiem, KHADC Deputy Chief Executive Member (CEM), mentioned Pynthorumkhrah, Laitumkhrah, Laban, and Mawkhar as few of the urban constituencies which are not been able to avail funds from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and Ministry of Panchayati Raj. He further stated that the reason behind this is that the e-gram swaraj portal is not accepting their proposals and only accepting proposals from areas under the Gram Panchayats or Rural Development Block.
