GURUGRAM: The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) will now use mobile application to keep check on unauthorised constructions, encroachments and illegal colonisation in the city.

Yashpal Yadav, Commissioner of Municipal Corporation of Gurugram, at a press conference on February 6, said that all junior engineers (JEs) were asked to submit reports regarding unauthorised constructions in the areas under their jurisdiction through a mobile application starting from February 16. The report submitted by the MCG staff would be tallied with the complaints received from the residents and departmental action would be initiated against the JEs for any discrepancies.

The demolition drive schedule would be prepared based on the complaints received and actions taken. Yadav released a mobile number for the local residents to lodge complaints on unauthorised construction, encroachment and illegal colonisation. Around 2,489 temporary encroachments were removed, 156 units sealed and demolition was carried out against 141 structures since April 1, 2018. Apart from this around 846 notices and 389 demolition orders have been issued, said Yadav.

More than ₹15 lakh cost was spent on the special demolition drive carried out from February 1-5. The amount would be recovered from the offenders.
