FARIDABAD: For the second time this year, Municipal Corporation Faridabad (MCF) has withheld a payment of Rs 10 crore to a company which it had appointed for appropriate garbage disposal in the city. The Corporation has expressed discontent with the company’s current work and has served an ultimatum to improve the same in order to get the payment released. The company, ‘Ecogreen’, was employed on a monthly amount of Rs 1.75 crore since November 2017. Anita Yadav, Commissioner, MCF,said that the company’s performance was subpar and in order to continue their remaining time of the contract, they’ll need to show drastic improvements. Dr Bhaskar, Chief Engineer,MCF,said that the company had promised to get the loopholes fixed within a week and the officials concerned had been told that the contract was liable to be terminated if the work was not up to the required standards. He also pointed out that it was the second time in the past six months that the contract fee had been stopped. A payment of Rs 13 crore had earlier been withheld in January 2019. Payment had also been stopped temporarily in August 2018. Bhaskar said that several notices had been served to the company and the corporation would take the final decision regarding the existing contract.
