NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has decided to launch a ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign on September 14, which will conclude on October 1. This year the campaign is observing the theme ‘Swabhav Swachhata-Sanskaar Swachhata’ which emphasises that ensuring cleanliness is a personal and collective responsibility.
This year’s campaign will consist of extensive cleanliness drives with enhanced emphasis on areas that often get neglected, along with challenging areas across the national capital. The campaign prioritises public involvement. In line with this, volunteers and other stakeholders will play a crucial role in this year’s campaign.
As part of the ‘Swachhata hi Seva’ campaign, the Delhi civic body will also organise ‘Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivirs’, which will provide health checkup facilities for the people engaged in sanitation activities. These Shivirs will also connect these sanitation workers with the welfare scheme introduced by the government.
Along with this, community engagement programmes highlighting the importance of sanitation and educating people about waste management will also be held in residential areas, markets, and other public spaces.
Each civic zone in Delhi will frame a detailed action plan to support MCD’s campaign. Additionally, ministers, MPs, MLAs, mayors, councillors, brand ambassadors, RWAs, Market Trader Associations (MTAs), and zonal departments will also take part in the ‘Swachhata hi Seva’ campaign.
