NEW DELHI: Vijay Dev, State Election Commissioner (SEC), National Capital Territory of Delhi on Friday, November 4, announced the election schedule of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). SEC announced that voting to take place on December 4, and the results will be announced three days later.
Filing of nominations for candidature will start on Monday, November 7 and the last date to file nominations is November 14. With the announcement of the election schedule, the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) came into force in the national capital from Friday onwards.
Commissioner Dev also announced the launch of the ‘Delli Nigam chunav’ App. With the help of this app, users can file their complaints against the violation by MCC. He added that loudspeakers could be accessed between 5 am to 11 pm only during the canvassing.
This time a total of 250 wards will go into elections, out of which 42 wards are reserved for Schedule Caste candidates, and 50 per cent of the seats are reserved for women. This time cap on candidate expenditure for election campaigns has been increased to ₹8 lakh from ₹5.75 lakh. There are a total of 1.46 crore voters in Delhi as of January 1, 2022, who will exercise their voting rights in these elections.
