NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is gearing up for the upcoming monsoon season by developing a comprehensive Monsoon Action Plan to tackle waterlogging in the city.
The plan primarily focuses on the timely desilting of drains, identifying waterlogging hotspots, establishing a control room, and forming teams to monitor and address waterlogging incidents.
The MCD is working diligently to ensure that all drains under its jurisdiction are cleaned before the onset of the monsoon, with 70 per cent of the desilting work already being completed.
The MCD has ensured that staff will be available 24/7 at all permanent pumping stations during the monsoon. There are a total of 72 permanent pumps and 465 temporary pumps deployed.
Teams equipped with an adequate number of pumps are being formulated to address waterlogging complaints in different areas, and maintenance of pumps and desilting of sump wells at pumping stations are being carried out ahead of the monsoon season.
