NEW DELHI: The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi VK Saxena has approved the date to convene a House meeting of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to elect the Mayor on February 6, 2023.

Along with the Mayor’s election, elections for the posts of the Deputy Mayor and six Standing Committee members are also to be conducted on the same day.

The Mayoral polls have been deferred twice (to be held earlier on January 6 and then January 24, 2023) due to bitter exchanges between two political groups- Aam Aadmi Party and Bharatiya Janata Party councilors.

Shelly Oberoi, AAP’s mayoral candidate approached the Supreme Court seeking time-bound conduct of the elections.
