CHANDIGARH: Raj Bala Malik, Mayor of Chandigarh Municipal Corporation, on Friday, December 18, launched the ‘Neki ki deewar’ or wall of kindness, at the community centre in Sector 8. This scheme has been introduced by the municipal corporation of the city. The mayor said that the people can leave their used and old garments, old blankets, sheets and any other items at the community centre so that anyone who is in need could use them. This facility will begin throughout the city outside the community centres in phases.
KK Yadav, Municipal Commissioner, said that there are many individuals who were helping the underprivileged by taking care of them and leaving various things at the wall of kindness to help the needful. He added that the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh is also running a vehicle, Swachhta Swari, across city sectors and colonies, including the villages, to gather garments, bags, footwear, etc.
