IMPHAL, Manipur: Chief Minister of Manipur N Biren Singh held a meeting with the representative of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), to discuss the ‘Mega Tourism Project’ and ‘Loktak Lake Master Plan’. In the meeting, CM Singh emphasised safeguarding local ecology while improving the tourism infrastructure.
The Department of Tourism, Government of Manipur has initiated a project to turn the Loktak Lake region into a major tourist destination in the northeast, thus providing a major boost to the state’s economy and creating additional employment opportunities for people of the state.
CM Singh announced on twitter, “Chaired a meeting with the representatives of the Asian Development Bank and discussed the Mega Tourism project and Loktak Lake Master plan. The project aims to will create world-class eco-tourism facilities in the periphery of Loktak lake.” In South of the Loktak lake lies the only floating national park in the world known as Keibul Lamjao National Park, which homes an endangered deer species of the northeast region known as Sangai or Brown Antlered Deer or Dancing Deer.
