PUNE: The Government of Maharashtra has approved an additional fund of Rs 8,870.83 lakh towards the rehabilitation and relief of those affected by cyclone Nisarga, last year. In June 2020, cyclone Nisarga had hit close to Alibaug with heavy rainfall and winds severely affecting houses, cultivation and livestock in Raigad, Pune and Ratnagiri districts.
The Maharashtra government had disbursed a sum of Rs 7,828.80 lakh just after the incident. This was in addition to the assistance of Rs 268.59 crore which was extended by the Government of India.
The office of Pune Divisional Commissioner posted the requirement for the additional funds, post which, the sanctioned amount was provided. The State Disaster Relief Fund and the state government have together provided the financial boost for the cyclone-affected people.
