MADRID: Michael Pinsky, London based artist, has designed pollution pods that simulate the smog conditions of Delhi and installed it in the ongoing COP 25 Climate Conference for better understanding of the international delegation attending the event. The visitors experience shortness of breath in the pods that simulate the condition of air that citizens of one of the most polluted country experience on daily basis. The artist shared with the reporters that he has tried to ‘distil’ Delhi’s environment in these pods by using safe perfume blends and none of the actual harmful toxins. He expressed that while the visitors would be subjected to the toxic air for a matter of minutes, millions suffer from this each day.
Visitors had common reactions of getting wet eyes and suffocation. The organisers of the competition told that Pinsky came up with the concept of using air pollution to correlate with climate change. He has simulated the air quality of five different places ranging from Norway to Sao Paolo to Delhi, in his pods.
