LUCKNOW: The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has taken up the initiative to ensure 100 per cent door-to-door waste collection in the city. For achieving the goal, the LMC has decided to introduce RFID tags from December 13. The LMC official will place a bar code outside every household which is to be scanned by the garbage collector after collecting the household waste. As soon as the scan gets finished, the data will be sent to the civic body’s control room to ensure that the entire designated area to that sanitary worker is covered. If the sanitary worker failed to cover the allotted area, the control room will receive a pop-up alert. The same is currently being used by the Pune Municipal Corporation under Smart Cities Mission.

Sanyukta Bhatia, Mayor, Lucknow said, “We have received the technology from a Pune based firm and the process to paste the QR codes will start this week.” The project is expected to be launched by December 20. This will help to improve the swachhta ranking of the city.
