Various posts on social media, ranging from home remedies to Ayurveda and Unani medication, are being spread with no effective evidence or verification from a credible source. Decrease in SpO2 level is a major point of concern for many victims and many remedies are spread claiming to help restore the oxygen level in people who are COVID-19 positive.
CLAIM
One such claim going viral on social media is the ‘lemon therapy’ which says that pouring pure lemon juice into the nose of a COVID-19 positive patient can improve the oxygen saturation level in the body and can also protect the patient against the novel coronavirus.
TRUTH
Press Information Bureau (PIB) tried to verify this information and described it as ‘completely fake’ and also said that lemon therapy cannot boost immunity or prevent anyone from COVID-19 infection. The bureau added that there is no scientific evidence that can prove that coronavirus is eliminated by putting lemon juice in the nose.
