KOCHI:
The Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) with a view to seek possible innovative
solution to improve first and last mile connectivity for metro transit launched
‘Data Innovation Challenge’.
The challenge was launched in collaboration with WRI India Ross Center for
Sustainable Cities and Toyota Mobility Foundation on January 30.
The nationwide competition seeks innovative solutions to improve public transit
connectivity from entrepreneurs, technology creators, NGOs, city and transport
planners, developers and students.
The challenge seek out solution in two tracks – the Technology challenge and
the Visualization challenge.
Under Technology challenge, the participants are invited to develop a
technology, data-driven action plan to improve accessibility to transport
services for all demographics of the city or support the agency in increasing
ridership or increasing efficiency.
Under Visualisation challenge, the participants will be invited to use data
points to develop innovative design-based approaches to visualize urban
transport in Kochi.
A P M Mohammed Hanish, KMRL managing director said, “Through the Challenge, we
intent to find innovative ways of utilising the vast data to the advantage of
public as well as transit operators.”
