THIRUVANATHAPURAM: Kerala’s KITE (Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education) has grabbed the spot in the list of Best Models in Human Resource Development (HRD) released by NITI Aayog. The report was released on November 17 by NITI Aayog and it talks about the interventions made by KITE in infrastructure development of schools, use of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in education, training, content development, etc.
KITE’s efforts towards enabling internet connectivity and e-learning for kids during the pandemic has been really appreciated. It has deployed around 3.74 lakh ICT equipment across 16,027 government and aided schools. It has also provided broadband connectivity to over 12,678 schools in Kerala. The core objective of KITE has always been “to inculcate ICT enabled activities in over 15,000 schools in the state”. The organisation has also trained over 1.83 lakh teachers and started various successful initiatives such as Samagra Online Resource Portal, part of Hi-tech school projects. The course is developed in the form of edutainment to train students with fun and games.
Kerala has also begun online classes from classes 1 to 12 which is available both on YouTube and KITE VICTERS channel. NITI Aayog has compiled the list of around 23 best practices broadly from the fields of innovation, technology, convergence, etc. based on the impact and how they have contributed to public policy.
