Kerala: Smart City Project faces road development delays

Smart City Project in Thiruvananthapuram faces road development delays THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, Kerala: Under the Smart City Project, the development of smart roads in the state capital has stopped as the construction of roads may not be completed by the revised deadline of June 15, 2024. An official has mentioned that the main cause of the delay is supposedly frequent bursts in the sewerage lines during the excavation for laying underground utilities. These incidents have caused disruptions and made it challenging to meet the deadline. A Smart City project spokesperson stated that the Smart City Thiruvananthapuram Ltd (SCTL) and Kerala Road Fund Board (KRFB) are working closely with Kerala Water Authority (KWA) to ensure that the broken sewerage pipelines are repaired and replaced on time. “There are some delays on the part of KWA in replacing the damaged lines. But the work has gained momentum now,” a KRFB official said.
