THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Government of Kerala announced on Thursday, September 3, that it will be setting up an expert panel that will decide if schools should reopen in the state. The Education Department released a statement that clarified that the panel will make their decision depending on the current COVID-19 situation of the state and the looming threat of a third wave of the pandemic.
The expert panel will prepare a report that will decide which classes should be called to schools in the initial phase of reopening of schools. Furthermore, they will clarify what facilities should be open in schools for children while ensuring their safety and protection against the virus.
In the last 24 hours, Kerala has reported over 32,097 fresh COVID-19 cases with 188 deaths pushing the total infection count to 41,22,133 and the fatalities to 21,149. For the past week, Kerala has been reporting over 30,000 fresh cases daily.
