BENGALURU: In an effort to solar parks with 25 MW capacity, thestate cabinet has decided to introduce amendments to the Karnataka Solar Policy (2014-21) to enable investors to set up solar parks having capacity to generate 25 MW of power. As per the current solar policy (2014-21), only plants generating 100 MW and more are declared as solar parks.
J C Madhuswamy, Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, and S Suresh Kumar,Secondary Education Ministerwhile briefing presspersons on Friday, September 6, said that nearly 500 acres of land area is required to set up a 100-MW solar park, and this has discouraged many investors.
According to the new amendments proposed, the investors can set up a 25-MW plant and can declare it a solar park.This will make them eligible for subsidy from the Centre. To setup a 25MW solar park, about 100 acres of land area is required. The producers can further sell power to either the state grid or the private companies.
