BENGALURU: Chief Minister of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai launched a vision document on Wednesday that attempts to lay out a long-term strategy for the comprehensive growth of the state’s healthcare system.
The document, titled “Advancing People’s Health in Karnataka: Vision for Progress,” has been created following a year of extensive research, discussions, and debates, according to K Sudhakar, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Karnataka. 250 specialists helped to prepare the document, which has also taken inspiration from best practices of other regions and included them. The document includes a roadmap for development of primary healthcare in rural areas, tertiary care and tele-medicine.
According to a press statement from Sudhakar’s office, the Chief Minister will also present the document to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Sudhakar also announced that the state government would establish 100 new community health centres in the underdeveloped region of north Karnataka. Within a month, the project’s foundation will be laid.
In urban regions, with a concentration of the underprivileged and other vulnerable groups of society, ‘Namma Clinics’ will be established, as per Sudhakar. Within two months, he claimed, Bengaluru would see the opening of up to 243 such ‘Namma Clinics.’
