PANAJI: Kadamba Transport Corporation will soon be upgrading Panaji Bus Terminus. KTC official informed that the renovation cost is expected to be more than 400 crore.
KTC general manager Sanjay Ghate said that the bus stand only needs renovation, which will be conducted in a proper manner. Ghate further added that before starting the renovation work it is necessary to shift the nearby shopkeepers and find the alternative routes.
There are around 3000 departures happening on daily basis. The corporation is trying to shift these departures at the Mapusa bus stand where 1,700 departures happen on daily basis.
“The Mapusa bus stand is being taken up by the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation ltd (GSIDC). Its drawings have been finalised. The works should start sometime this year,” Ghate said. He added that they are working on construction of a new bus stand at the Vasco depot which will be taken over by GSIDC and one already started at Ponda and will be completed by this year.
