JODHPUR: Jodhpur to get the Rajasthan’s first and Northern India’s third paediatric cath lab. Amount of Rs 5 crore have been sanctioned to S N Medical college for the purpose under the National Child Health Program. An additional amount of Rs 10 lakh have been sanctioned by Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, MP Jodhpur, from MPLAD fund. AIIMS, Delhi and PGI, Chandigarh are the only two hospitals to have the paediatric cath lab in Northern India. The upcoming facility in Jodhpur is expected to be more advanced than the former ones.
S S Rathore, Principal of S N Medical College said that with the development of this lab, children with heart ailments will not have to go out of the state for treatment. “Now, open heart surgeries, valve related surgeries and congenital heart ailments would be able to be carried out in the Jodhpur itself,” he added.
Subhash Balara, a Cardiac Surgeon said that this lab will help to develop paediatric cardiology surgery in Jodhpur and that would be a big milestone for treatment of heart problems of children below the age of 12.
