SRINAGAR/JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 71.3 per cent voter turnout in the fourth phase of the nine-phased panchayat elections held on November 27, 2018.
Jammu division recorded 82.4 per cent polling and Kashmir division recorded 32.3 per cent.
In Jammu division Jammu district stood ahead with 85.2 per cent voter turnout and the minimum voting of 78.9 per cent was seen in Udhampur district. While in Kashmir division, Baramulla district recorded the highest voter turnout of 62.4 per cent and Phulwama district recorded least polling percentage of 0.6 per cent.
99 Sarpanch and 969 Panch were elected unopposed. Polling took place for 339 Sarpanch and 1749 Panch seats, with 5470 candidates in fray.
2,618 polling stations were set up including 639 in Kashmir division and 1979 in Jammu Division. Basic Minimum facilities were ensured in all the polling stations for facilitating the voters. Security arrangements were made including the deployment of Central Armed Police force.
The fifth phase of polls will be held on November 29, 2018 from 8 am to 2 pm.
