JAMMU: Department of Tourism, Jammu and Kashmir, undertook an initiative to explore the adventure tourism potential of the uncharted stretch of Bani-Basohli-Bhaderwah circuit through a two-day mountain cycling event. The event was called ‘B3 Mountain Terrain Bike (MTB) Challenge 2019’ and saw 28 cyclists pedal through the Himalayan range from June 22nd to June 24th. The tourism department hosted the event in association with Bani-Basohli Development Authority (BBDA), Bhaderwah Development Authority (BDA) and J&K Cycling Association. A team of cyclists peddled on the 165-km hilly and mountainous route from Basohli to Bhaderwah in Doda via Bani, through heights ranging from 1,500 ft to 10,000 ft, were accompanied by a team of tourism, health and security officials. A social media team also accompanied the cyclists and videographed the serene and unmatchable beauty of this untapped region. The cyclists were flagged off from the iconic cable-stayed Atal Setu Bridge constructed on a freshwater lake lying at the juncture of three states — Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh — in Basohli.
