J&K declares all 20 districts as COVID ‘green zone’

JAMMU: Government of Jammu and Kashmir, on Monday, February 1, notified all the 20 districts in the union territory (UT) as ‘Green Zone’. An official statement said that all districts, except Lakhanpur containment zone, have been notified as the ‘Green Zone’.

The statement mentioned that this circular is issued in the line of powers conferred under Section 24 of Disaster Management Act, 2005 by the State Executive Committee. The circular cited the recent fall in the new cases of COVID-19 even after the significant movement of persons to Jammu and Kashmir. The categorisation of districts into Red and Green zones will be for the purpose of implementation of permitted activities in the respective districts as per separate directives issued by State Executive Committee (SEC). The circular also added that the categorisation of districts will be reviewed at regular intervals and all further modifications in this will be done by the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir.
