JAIPUR: The city of Jaipur is all set to provide ‘smart loo’ for the commuter’s in the city as Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has started construction of smart toilets at Ramniwas Bagh and Rambagh Circle.
At both the places the smart toilets will have facilities such as public WiFi and waiting area’s for people commuting via public transports. For women, the toilets will have sanitary pad vending machines and an incinerator to dispose used pads. Waiting rooms will be built for women where they can feed babies or keep them when they are using the loo.
V S Sunda, Director, JDA, said, “These toilets are being built to provide maximum facilities at public places. A water cooler, an ATM, and WiFi facility will be provided at smart toilets. Construction of these toilets are complete and they will be inaugurated within 15 days.”
Though the toilets are about to be inaugurated it still haven’t been decided which authority is going to run these toilets. Sunda said, “It is likely that the responsibility to run these toiles would be handed over to the Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) or Sulabh Complex.”
Each toilet has been constructed at a cost of Rs 60 lakh, at first the plan was to construct five toilets in five different zones in the city but due to financial constraints only two were built.
