NEW DELHI: Harpic Mission Paani launched India’s first- ever ‘Sanitation for all Pledge and Preamble: Clean water, Sustainable Sanitation’ with Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Minister of Jal Shakti, Government of India along with five prominent women leaders at the Mission Paani Sanitation forum on World Toilet Day.
Taking a stand on the occasion, Shekhawat said, “The Prime Minister of India had flagged a target of making the country open defecation-free and we are proud that we have achieved it, 11 years ahead of the target by UN Sustainable Development Goals. Moreover, every citizen should pledge to work towards sanitation and access to safe water so that we can tread together towards making a new India.” Harpic Mission Paani, in alignment with Swachh Bharat Mission and UN Sustainable Development Goals, is committed to work towards raising awareness and mobilizing action to ensure ‘Leaving No One Behind’. This newly-released preamble is India’s first-ever preamble for inclusive sanitation and is a step forward in promoting an inclusive ecosystem.
“With sanitation-for-all pledge we aim to bring together people from all walks of life, which includes policymakers and other prominent figures, to join the campaign for improving sanitation and provide access to clean water and toilet across the country”, said Avinash Kaul, Chief Executive Officer, Network18. Harpic Mission Paani aims to reach out to over 20 million Indians to drive behavior change on toilet use and maintenance across India through on-ground partners and Network 18 by 2022.
