NEW DELHI: Railway Board issued a circular to Integral Coach Factory (ICF) asking ICF to manufacture more Train 18 rakes by the end of current production year that is till March 2019. After the successful trials of the high-speed engineless ‘Train18’, on December 5 the circular was issued during a recent meeting of the Railway Board led by Piyush Goel, Minister of Railways,Coal and Corporate Affairs.
Earlier, ICF had a mandate to manufacture only one more ‘Train 18’ rake in the current production year, but with new circular targets were revised. The Railway Board appreciated the success of “new indigenous train set (T-18)” and asked ICF to start procuring material and also schedule the production activities to achieve the revised targets.
Sudhanshu Mani, general manager, ICF, told Financial Express Online that ICF will try to make two more Train 18 rakes this year and up to eight in the next financial year depending upon the allotment from the Railway Board.
