NEW DELHI: At the closing ceremony of the G20 summit 2022 in Bali, the President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo handed over the gavel to the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi before India takes over the G20 Presidency formally from December 1, 2022.
With a sense of pride, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated, “Over the next one year, we will strive to ensure that the G20 acts as a global prime mover to envision new ideas and accelerate collective action.”
He also mentioned the key issues and priorities, and that the sense of ownership over natural resources is giving rise to conflict and has become the leading cause of the current plight of the environment. For a safe future of the planet, the campaign LiFE, which is ‘Lifestyle for Environment’ can make a big contribution and make sustainable lifestyle a mass movement.
Modi stressed on the Russia-Ukraine war and China’s aggressive behavior in the Indo-pacific region. He highlighted that future generations would be deprived of the advantages of economic growth and technological advancement without peace and security.
India being handed over the G20 Presidency for the coming year, Modi expressed his contentment and said, “India’s G-20 presidency will be inclusive, ambitious, decisive, and action-oriented.”
