NEW DELHI: The latest report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) highlights the most recent advancements in climate change. The land, oceans, and atmosphere have all warmed as a result of human activity on the planet.
Carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere are at their highest level in two million years, sea-level rise is at its quickest in three thousand years, and arctic sea ice is at its lowest level in at least 1000 years, according to the report. The attempts to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are highly ambitious, and they will contribute to keeping global warming to 1.5°C or even 2°C above pre-industrial levels.
The recently finished COP 26 (Conference of Parties) seeks to cut GHG emissions by half by 2030, and achieve “net-zero” status by 2070. Renewable energy deployment in India is primarily aimed at promoting economic growth, improving energy security, increasing energy access, and reducing climate change.
Clean energy is necessary for sustainable development, as is ensuring that every citizen has access to inexpensive and reliable energy. Due to strong government support and a strengthening economy, India has emerged as one of the most attractive renewable energy markets in the world.
The Government of India will make a swift transition to renewable energy technology in order to achieve sustainable growth and avoid catastrophic climate change. Customers are becoming more aware of energy conservation through use of renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, biomass and hydropower, as it is clear that clean energy is affordable. By 2020, India wants to have installed 175 GW of renewable energy.
