NEW DELHI: ASEA Brown Boveri (ABB), along with Green TV, launched an online campaign on the occasion of World Electric Vehicle (EV) Day. It encouraged drivers across the world to realise the importance of electric vehicles for sustainable mobility and pledge that the next car they drive will be electric. Results show that India placed second with 13 per cent people pledging to switch to an EV. The United Kingdom (UK) topped the list with around 29 per cent people willing to switch to EVs, while the United States of America came third with a total of 11 per cent people signing up for the campaign.
Tarak Mehta, President, ABB electrification, said that ABB, being the headline partner, is delighted to see that a considerable number of people are willing to take a positive action and sign up for EVs. ABB is committed to inspire drivers around the world to work towards a sustainable electric future. He informed that ABB fleet electrification pilot program has also been launched in the UK and other countries will soon follow.
ABB also announced that they are planning on installing new chargers in various locations across India. In Punjab, ABB, with AAR Power Solutions and their brand AAR GO EV Smart, set up the first commercial charging station with the options of ethernet, WIFI and 4G. A similar set up is also operational in T Nagar, the largest market of Chennai. It has also received the order of setting up 3 chargers at a mall in Tirupur, Tamil Nadu.
