NEW DELHI: India has recorded its highest spike of detected COVID-19 cases till date, with 14,516 new cases being reported in the past 24 hours. This has taken the number of infected people to over 3.95 lakh in the country.
According to Union Health Ministry’s data, the death toll has also shot up to 12,948 with 375 new fatalities and so far, 2,13,830 patients have recovered/cured/discharged while there are 168,269 active cases.
The recovery rate, which is the ratio of the number of patients recovered to the number of patients infected, was recorded to be 53.79%.
For the ninth day in a row, 10,000 cases were reported in India. The country has seen a rise of over two lakh infections from June 1 till 20 and Mumbai, Delhi, and Chennai report more than half the total cases in the country today. They are among the 65 most critical Covid-19 affected districts.
