NEW DELHI: As per the data gathered from Worldometer website that tracks the number of coronavirus infected cases, India has now become the most affected country by the coronavirus in the Asian peninsula. Recent data shows that India has witnessed the highest spike in number of coronavirus infected people with 7,466 new cases in last 24 hours and 175 reported deaths. This is in continuation of the trend of the past week, where each day the number of cases have exceeded 6,000.
With these numbers, India has overtaken Turkey which was the worst affected country in Asia earlier. In India, total number of cases now stand at 165,829 including 90,010 active cases. 71106 have either been cured/discharged or migrated and 4713 deaths.
Turkey ranks second on the list of Asian countries with 160,979 cases, followed by Iran with 143,849 cases, China with 82,995 and Saudi Arabia with 80,185 cases.
