NEW DELHI: President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday, February 11, said that India has been in a leading position in the global efforts to forge a decisive and harmonized response to COVID-19 to make sure the collective health and economic well-being.
Addressing an event, Kovind said that under the Government of India’s ‘Vaccine Maitri’ initiative, highly cost-effective vaccines made in India have already been delivered to various countries, re-enforcing its reputation as the “pharmacy of the world”.
According to a statement issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan, the President accepted credentials from Ambassador/High Commissioner from the Republic of El Salvador, Panama, Tunisia, the United Kingdom and the Argentine Republic in a virtual ceremony. He also conveyed his good wishes to the envoys on their appointment.
Kovind added that India enjoys warm and friendly relations with all these five countries and these were deeply rooted in a common vision of peace and prosperity. He also thanked the governments for supporting India’s candidacy for the non-permanent seat of the United Nations Security Council for the term 2021-22.
