Indefinite curfew imposed in 2 Sri Lankan towns

COLOMBO: Two suburban towns of Colombo have been put under complete lockdown for an indefinite period after a COVID-19 case was detected on Sunday, October 4, 2020. Divulapitiya and Minwangoda are the two towns under examination.

Shavendra Shilva, Army Commander and Head, COVID-19 Prevention Task Force, said that a women from Divulapitiya was found infected from COVID-19. She worked in an apparel factory and was admitted to a hospital in Gampaha. After she was tested positive for the novel coronavirus, around 50 people working with her were put under home quarantine. 

According to the authorities, this is the first case of a local being infected with COVID-19 since April. Almost all the recent infections have come from the people returning from outside the country. The Government of Sri Lanka has earlier lifted the lockdown in June after no new case of infection was recorded for almost two months.
